Insulation is essential to help reduce running costs and warm up time. We have a range of products so you're bound to find something suitable for your project.
How to Buy insulation from Rayotec: 
  1. Purchasing Insulation with Underfloor Heating Kit: Once you put a heating kit in your basket, you will be automatically be taken to a page that allows you to buy the appropriate insulation. Make sure that you order the total floor area with an extra 10% for wastage.
  2. Purchasing just Insulation: Just press the "Buy Now" next to the insulation you require below.

Depron "Protect" Board (under Wood Laminate, Engineered Wood and Carpet with Foil Mats)
Depron
Highly efficient, premium insulation that reflects heat into your room as well as protection the foil heating mat. It's water repellent plus sound dampening. Ideal for wooden laminate & engineered wood. Simply loose lay on floor and tape the joints with a suitable cloth tape

For under carpet we suggest that you use a double sided carpet tape for all the boards on the perimeter of the room to help keep the boards down when installing the underlay and carpet.

This product comes in boxes of 10m2. The thickness is 6mm.






Thermlay Wood (under Engineered Wood and Wood Laminate)

Thermlay Wood Insulation Board

Our low cost XPS 6mm insulation board is easy to install and offers superior noise reduction as well as enhanced thermal properties. It's helps with floor levelling and support properties. It's suitable for use with all engineered wood and laminate flooring and is 100% recyclable.

Simply loose lay on floor and tape the joints with a suitable cloth tape.

Not suitable for under vinyl, LVT, tiles or carpeted flooring

This product comes in packs of 9.76m2 (600mm x 856mm boards) 



Ultra Backer Boards 6mm (under Tiles, Amtico and Karndean)

Ultra Backer Boards
 Our highest quality insulation board. They are extruded polystyrene panels, covered with a fibreglass mesh. As they are made in Germany and so they don't suffer from the inconsistent quality found with cheaper tile backer boards. This board can be used on top of either a wooden or concrete subfloor. (Not suitable for foil matting)

The boards are 0.7m² in size and comes in a 6mm thickness. We also sell the special washers and screws for installation on wooden subfloors.

Insomax  (under Tiles, Amtico and Karndean)
InomaxInsomax Ultimate is an ultra high density electric underfloor heating insulation board that has been developed for use with Rayotec's high performance cable mat underfloor heating mats. This board is suitable for concrete subfloors only. (Not suitable for foil matting under carpet)


The boards are 0.5m² in size and comes in a 6mm & 10mm thickness.

  • Yes, These are our easiest to lay insulaiotn boards, simply loose lay them onto the sub floor and tape the joins together to form one large mass, once you have done this you are ready to lay the foil heating mats directly on top.
  • Are there specific installation tips for Insomax boards?
  • These are only designed to be used on top of concrete so you should always ensure this is your subfloor before starting. Make sure that the subfloor is clear from any debris before putting down flexible tile adhesive for the insomax boards to bond to. 
  • Are there specific installation tips for Ultra Tile Backer Boards?
  • The Ultra Tile Backer Boards can be used on both concrete or wooden subfloors, for Concrete use the same method as detailed for the insomax board above, for wooden subfloors you will need to use a layer of flexible tile adhesive and then screw through the boards. when screwing the boards down you can use 5 screws when combined with the adhesive, one in each corner and one in the centre.
  • Can I use these insulation boards with any type of underfloor heating?
  • Each insulation product is designed for specific flooring types and underfloor heating systems. For example, Depron is ideal for foil matting under wood and carpet, while Insomax is developed for high-performance cable mat systems on concrete subfloors. Ultra Backer Boards are not suitable for foil matting.
